Sports Illustrated reports:
The United States Patent and Trademark Office canceled six federal trademark registrations for the NFL’s Washington Redskins on Wednesday, saying the nickname is “disparaging to Native Americans” and cannot be trademarked under federal law that prohibits trademark protection on offensive or disparaging language.
There are a large number of other Redskin Trademarks, will they be cancelled too? So the question is, how quickly with the PTO cancel other “Redskins” trademarks?
Will trademarks that include “WAP” in them be cancelled? There are at least 89. What about “Mick”? There are a number of them What about trademarks that include “Negro”? There are at least 72!
What about “Nig”? That one just sounds offensive.
