Clinton – “many deeply, deeply troubled” people.

“I’m glad they’re fighting over health care and everything else. Let them have at it. But I think that all you have to do is read the paper every day to see how many people there are who are deeply, deeply troubled.” Former President Clinton, April 16, 2010.

The former President is correct, there are many deeply troubled people out there, but the ones who are deeply troubled are the ones who don’t believe in freedom, but believe that their needs justify the seizure of someone else’s means to meet them.  The deeply troubled people are the ones who wish to control the country instead of promoting freedom and the belief that each person is able to and responsible for controlling their own lives.  The deeply troubled people are the people who believe that liberty means freedom for them to control others by force.  The most deeply troubled people out there, however, are the ones who will lie, cheat, and deceive in order to pervert the meaning of the Constitution and freedom for their own power.  Only a truly disturbed and troubled person would want to control others.  Only a deeply disturbed person would want to have the power of life and death over an entire country.

Obama … putting on a clinic for some of the world’s greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.

World leaders arriving in Washington for President Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit must have felt for a moment that they had instead been transported to Soviet-era Moscow. …  In the middle of it all was Obama — occupant of an office once informally known as “leader of the free world” — putting on a clinic for some of the world’s greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.  Dana Milbank, Washington Post, April 14, 2010.

a willing relinquishment of power is one of those things which human nature never was, nor ever will be, capable of.

Will the oppressor let go the oppressed? Was there ever an instance? Can the annals of mankind exhibit one single example where rulers overcharged with power willingly let go the oppressed, though solicited and requested most earnestly? … Sometimes, the oppressed have got loose by one of those bloody struggles that desolate a country but a willing relinquishment of power is one of those things which human nature never was, nor ever will be, capable of.

We the People of the United States

The phrases “We the People of the United States,” “House of Representatives …chosen… by the People of the several States,” “right of the people peaceably to assemble,” “right of the people to be secure in their homes,” “enumerations herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people,” “elected by the people thereof, for six years” and “The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people” all refer to individuals, but  some argue that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” refers to the state.
