The mindset of legislating for the betterment of society guarantees the growth of the beast. … Politicians see government as a solution but the people see government as part of the problem. Beastly bureaucracy is born out of good intentions married to poor solutions. Only when politicians realize what constituents already know will the true problem even be addressed much less solved. More government always translates into less freedom. R. Lee Wrights

About 50% of the adults in this country are simply too damned ignorant and stupid to be living in a free society. These are people who cannot survive without someone else stepping forward to take care of them. . . .One thing that occurs to me is that I am unwilling to surrender my freedoms and economic liberty simply because these idiots can’t cope. That means that they are a danger to me. Neal Boortz

A campaign finance bill sponsored by Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Russell Feingold (D-WI) was proposed and rejected by the Senate due to questions about its constitutionality and one-sidedness. Al Gore backed the bill strongly, and even claimed ‘Unlike Senator [Bill] Bradley, I was a co-sponsor of it’ in the November 24, 1999 New York Times. But as noted by Bill Bradley’s campaign, ‘Gore not only did not, but could not have co-sponsored McCain-Feingold. Russ Feingold was not elected until 1992. Al Gore quite the Senate in 1992 to become Vice President. Feingold and Gore never served together.’ Al Gore
Bradley Press Release, December 7, 1999. It was thus impossible for Gore to have co-sponsored this bill.
