Republicans want to shut down the government because they think there’s nothing more important than keeping women from getting cancer screenings. Harry Reid, The New Civility

“Republicans want to shut down the government because they think there’s nothing more important than keeping women from getting cancer screenings. This is indefensible and everyone should be outraged,” Harry Reid said on the Senate floor, April 8, 2011

Senator Reid is again demonstrating President Obama’s “New Civility” which was instituted in January 2011.

Senator Reid, Republicans want FREEDOM to CHOOSE where to get their cancer screenings and not be reliant upon Washington, DC for cancer screenings.   The people of the United States do not need to be ruled and controlled from Washington.  We are quite capable of getting along with our lives without power-hungry politicians attempting to control us.  We do not want to force our neighbors to pay for our health care while you control the money and thereby control us.

Does a statement like that represent “The New Civility” that we were told in January was required going forward?  Or was that only for political purposes at the time?

We do not want women to have to wait months for screenings and surgery when needed like the BBC reported was occurring in their state-controlled system.

If the Democrats don’t act responsibly, they are to blame for the shutdown

The meme is that if the Republicans don’t do what the Democrats want, they are to blame for the shutdown. Why is that?  Why isn’t it that if the Democrats don’t do what the Republicans want, they are to blame for the shutdown?  I guess that just doesn’t play as well in the press.

When the entire basis of your electoral success is promoting living at the expense of someone else and your voters expect you to vote them money from someone else’s income, responsibility is pretty much out the window.

Bloggers blame Sarah Palin for Gabrielle Giffords shooting

After seeing bloggers trying to blame Sarah Palin for the Gabrielle Giffords shooting today, a few facts should be stated:
1. Jared Lee Loughner lists among his favorite books Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/Classitup10). None of those would be listed by any Republican or Tea Partier as favorite books. Both favor a large, central, all-powerful government controlling the citizens.
2. Jared Lee Loughner’s High School friend on twitter (http://twitter.com/caitieparker) says he was a “left wing” pot head.
3. Jared Lee Loughner writes using the terms “B.C.E”. Loughner hated “In God We Trust.” Both of which show he is not a Christian.
4. Loughner is reportedly a registered “independent”.
5. Loughner shot and killed a Republican Federal Judge. Does that make him a Democrat?

6. CNN used the name “Crossfire” for a show for nearly 25 years (1982-2005).  That is 23 years of indoctrinating people to think of political debate as “Crossfire”.
[Update] 7. Loughner had sent Representative Giffords a letter in 2007. More than a year prior to Sarah Palin being a household name.

[Update 1/12/2010] 8. “He did not watch TV.  He disliked the news. He didn’t listen to political radio” according to a friend.

Update 1/17/2010] 9. The New York Times reports that Loughner was a Present Bush hater – “His anger would well up at the sight of President George W. Bush”.

Saying Sarah Palin is to blame, the Tea Party, the Republican party – or for that matter the Democratic party – is nuts. It sounds like something that this nut job would say! The blame belongs with an insane killer. No one else. But don’t let any facts get in the way of a good smear.

Concentrate on the victims, not trying to pin it on someone else.

Regarding the Communist Manifesto, Conservatives generally want small government with power widely distributed and closer to the voter with most decisions left to the individual. (The left wing wants larger, more centralized government. Once the differences are stated it becomes clear that one side wants power in government, the other freedom to the people. Groups that want large government are the fascists, socialists, and communists – in other words statists and dictators like the Nazi Socialists, the USSR, Mao’s Socialists. All of whom were willing to kill millions of people in order to establish their social order. All of whom wanted a strong, central, powerful government in order to impose their will on everyone else “for their own good.”

The choice is easy: freedom or government. Life and liberty vs power and control.

Mask or not, if you hunt without a prenup, pack some ketchup for the dung. – Chuck Lorre

Before Undoogoo would venture into the jungle to begin his daily hunt, he would don a mask to confuse his prey. Not a mask meant to frighten. No, Undoogoo’s mask was pleasant to look at, designed to trick his quarry into thinking that he was harmless. In this way, Undoogoo was able to get close and strike a lethal blow. Which is exactly what he had in mind the day he spied a beautiful creature drinking at a watering hole. Hiding behind his benign facade, he positioned himself alongside his intended victim and prepared to attack. But what Undoogoo didn’t know was that this “beautiful creature” was also wearing a mask. A mask that successfully camouflaged a fierce and merciless predator. And so it was that Undoogoo suddenly found himself being devoured, torn apart, eviscerated!

the governing rights of the States are all of those which have not been surrendered to the National Government by the Constitution or its amendments.

“As a matter of fact and law, the governing rights of the States are all of those which have not been
surrendered to the National Government by the Constitution or its amendments. Wisely or unwisely,
people know that under the Eighteenth Amendment Congress has been given the right to legislate on this particular subject, but this is not the case in the matter of a great number of other vital problems of government, such as the conduct of public utilities, of banks, of insurance, of business, of agriculture, of education, of social welfare and of a dozen other important features. In these, Washington must not be encouraged to interfere.”

Warren Buffett, the hypocrite of Omaha, says taxes are too low

“But I think that people at the high end — people like myself — should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we’ve ever had it.” Warren Buffett, November 21, 2010

The Hypocrite of Omaha spoke out again today, arguing that he isn’t paying enough in taxes, but still using shelters and other techniques to shield his income.  As in June 2007 and October 2007, Buffett complains he should be paying higher taxes.  Warren, instead of complaining about, do it.  Send 10% of your assets to the Federal Government.  Put your money where your mouth is.

Only a fool cooperates with his own destroyers.

“Simply saying ‘no,’ as we’ve had this past Congress … won’t bring jobs back.” Senator Harry Reid, November 3, 2010

Senator Reid, only a fool cooperates with his own destroyers. A pro-freedom agenda based on saying “NO” to a statist, anti-freedom, anti-Constitution, socialist agenda is what the election was about.  Politicians who care more about their own power than freedom, should be an endangered species with no 1973 Endangered Species Act to protect them.  When the choice is freedom v.s. control, compromising your freedom away slowly is no more sane than doing it all at once. Being statist democrat-lite will not only be bad for the Republicans, but for the Republic.

Would you compromise with a robber who wants to rob you?  Of course not.  Likewise, the host can not compromise with the parasites feeding off of her.

Saying “NO” to more big government, debt increasing policies is the way to create jobs because government does not create jobs, people do.

California Air Board – not science, politics

* California grossly miscalculated pollution levels – by 340 percent, according to the California Air Resources Board

* Bad calculation by the air board estimated 18000 deaths per year from particulate matter, which now is estimated to by off by at least a factor of two.  (And probably thousands).

* The California Air Board estimate of a nitrous oxide source was off by at least a factor of two.

The board scientist – Hien Tran – who oversaw that study faked his scientific credentials.  Mary Nichols, chairwoman of the California Air Resources Board, knew that the “scientist” had faked his degree and lied about his credentials and did not inform the rest of the board prior to a vote on his faked research.

Nichols should resign, and the board should be dissolved.  Politics and science don’t mix.

Single Payer system, I go to the doc, I pay for the services I receive.

On a single payer system:

You go, you pay for the services you receive. I go to the doc, I pay for the services I receive. Love [the single payer] plan, single payer all the way. If it’s successful there, we’ll move it to other segments of society. You go gas up your car, you pay, I go gas up my car, I pay. Single payer again! Fantastic idea! A multi-payer system would be, You go to the doc, you don’t pay, but me, my neighbor, my boss and my brother-in-law all chip-in for your treatment. Hmmm, maybe we have a problem here with definitions. – “From Where I Sit”
