So you think that money is the root of all evil? Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can’t exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil? Ayn Rand
Atlas Shrugged,(1905-1982)

Instead of guarding freedom, the government is establishing slavery; instead of protecting men from the initiators of physical force, the government is initiating physical force and coercion in any manner and issue it pleases; instead of serving as the instrument of objectivity in human relationships, the government is creating a deadly, subterranean reign of uncertainty and fear, by means of non-objective laws whose interpretation is left to the arbitrary decisions of random bureaucrats; instead of protecting men from injurty by whim, the government is arrogating to itself the power of unlimited whim-so that we are fast approaching ythe stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force. The democrats and tech giants took 1984 as an implementation manual, not a cautionary tale

The democrats and tech giants took 1984 as an implementation manual, not a cautionary tale:

crimethink – To even consider any thought not in line with the principles of Ingsoc. Doubting any of the principles of Ingsoc. All crimes begin with a thought. So, if you control thought, you can control crime.

Newspeak – The official language of Oceania. Newspeak is “politically correct” speech taken to its maximum extent. Newspeak is based on standard English, but all words describing “unorthodox” political ideas have been removed. In addition, there was an attempt to remove the overall number of words in general, to limit the range of ideas that could be expressed.

ownlife – Individualism and eccentricity. A desire to do something for your own benefit. (i.e. hobbies, ownership of property, love, or any other thoughtcrime)

My God, how little my countrymen know what precious blessings they are …

My God, how little my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of and which no other people on earth enjoy. I confess I had no idea of it myself. While we shall see multiplied instances of Europeans going to live in America, I venture to say, no man now living will ever see an instance of an American removing to settle in Europe, and continuing there. Thomas Jefferson
in a letter from Europe, to James Monroe In 1785

Twitter fascists silence speech

Twitter’s rationale: “behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm” — is extraordinarily crazy and could be used against anyone if the powers-that-be decided it was politically necessary. Big tech corporations are taking fascism to heart to silence dissent using illogical, nonsense, non sequiturs like “hate speech” and the above.
This is authoritarianism of the fascism/socialism variety at its finest. Speech codes and “hate speech” nonsense to silence critics. Corporations favoring one political party and muzzling the other while claiming to be “neutral platforms”. Using nonsense phrases like “dog whistle” to attribute something not said to an opponent to tar and feather him or her. Wanting to disarm the populace. Universal corporate and government surveillance to monitor everyone and everything, wait until you use Facebook’s Diem, they’ll know everything you buy too. Fascists de-platforming non-violent groups and using phrases like the illogical, nonsensical term “hate speech” to justify it.
As compared to the other side, wanting freedom, letting people make their own choices, letting people set their own priorities and getting government out of the way so that they can do so. The heavy hand of the control freak, power hungry elites versus regular people who want to live their lives without being controlled from DC.
Reagan said it nicely, there is no left or right, just up or down. Up to the maximum freedom consistent with order or down into the ant heap of totalitarianism. The authoritarians want power, control and to reap the rewards of taking a vig from everyone.
