Students sent home for wearing American Flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo

What country is this?  Students were sent home for wearing American Flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo in the United States.

One Mexican student (certainly not Mexican-American or American), Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student,”I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day.  We don’t deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn’t do that on Fourth of July.”  Annicia you are IN THE UNITED STATES.  If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.

They start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence

Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values. Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims. Watch for the day when it bounces, marked: ‘Account overdrawn.’   Ayn Rand

Greece 200-250 billion euro over 5 years? From the United States? IMF?

Barron’s reports today (May 1, 2010) that analysts think the Greece bailout could eventually cost [euro] 200 billion to [euro] 250 billion over five years and the analyst states “The reality is, they need to default.”  The population of Greece is around 10 million people which means a bailout of 20,000 to 25,000 Euros per person in Greece – which is US$26,000 to US$33,000 per person.

Where will the money come from?  Much of the money for a bailout of Greece will come from the IMF.  The question then become where will the IMF get the money and the answer is from its members and which member has the largest, by far, contribution?  The United States.  The United States pays three times more than the 2nd nearest contributor (37149 SDRs vs 13312 SDRs for Japan and 13008 SDRs for Germany).

The United States will be repaying a lot of the profligate spending by the Greeks. Then Portugal, Spain, Italy and Ireland.  This will encourage poor decisions in other countries because they believe the United States will BAIL THEM OUT.  It is bad enough we had to spend 100s of billions of dollars bailing out car companies and Wall Street firms, it is even worse to spend it overseas.

The United States should stop the bailouts of other countries immediately.  $30,000 per person in Greece is crazy.  What could you do with that much money?

Aliens vs illegal immigrants

The tone of the discussion has been set by the choice of terms.  By casting aliens in the United States as “illegal immigrants” it gives the imprint of immigrants to someone in the United States who is breaking the law.  It is like calling an armed robber, an illegal customer.

If we are going to decide that only some laws have to be uniformly applied, can we pick and choose which laws we have to obey?  I thought not.

Felipe Ramirez and Yeni Bentiz get it all wrong

Felipe Ramirez and Yeni Bentiz get it all wrong when quoted today.

Felipe Ramirez says “The irony of that statue [the Statue of Liberty], is that those poor and huddled masses are exactly the people who they don’t want to come. … there is a lot of xenophobia in the heartland, in the south.”  Felipe, I hate to burst your bubble, but poor huddled masses are perfectly welcome.  It is LAW-BREAKING people that are not welcome.  People who are willing to follow the LAW, they are more than welcome, the law-breaking, illegals are NOT.

For Felipe Ramirez, it must be a difficult concept to understand, the United States is a nation of laws.  It is the foundation of society.
